Pleasure Productions Launches Sex Star Search

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. - Pleasure Productions is launching its own "American Idol"-style contest to find the next big porn starlet, called the Summer Sex Star Search, which begins this week and runs through Labor Day.

"If you or someone you know has ever thought about getting into adult movies, now's the chance," said Pleasure publicist John Paone. "The audience demand for new, fresh talent has never been greater, and Pleasure has been an industry leader for over 20 years by finding and showcasing hot new performers at their early, sexy best."

Gina Lynn, Nikki Benz and Krystal Steal all started out as Pleasure girls, and the company's most recent find, Tera Wray — who graced the cover of AVN's June "Fresh" issue — has made a big splash already.

"Tera Wray was a huge fan favorite at the '07 [AVN Adult Entertainment Expo]," Paone reported, "and her career took off with several personal appearances around the country, excellent DVD sales, and even her own mainstream radio show [on Richmond, Va.'s Y101-FM]."

Contestants should submit two to three of their best photos and a 50-word-or-less essay on why they want to be a porn star no later than Sept. 3. A select few will be interviewed and the finalists will be asked to do a hardcore screen test.

"If a girl's going to make it in porn, we obviously have to see how she moves in front of the camera with another person," explained Paone. "We'll shoot her in a scripted hardcore scene on one of our regular sets. If she can carry the scene and we like what we see, we'll use that scene in one of out upcoming releases. If we really like what we see, then it may be time to take the next step."

Paone added that prospective contract girls will pose for glamour stills, both nude and clothed, and may be placed at the company's booth for a trade show to see how they handle meeting and greeting fans.

"We're timing this so our ultimate winner(s) will be ready for the Expo in Las Vegas in January '08," Paone said. "That show is the perfect opportunity for new talent to meet retailers and consumers in one place, and to create relationships that will make people want to watch her movies."
