New Beverly Showcases 1982 Porn Comedy on Big Screen

LOS ANGELES—Veronica Hart, a 1980s-era adult star and a member of the AVN Hall of Fame, will be in the spotlight again this Friday, Nov. 5, when she appears in person for a screening of Larry Revene's 1982 X-rated comedy, Wanda Whips Wall Street. The event takes place one minute before midnight at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles.

The screening of the 35mm adult film—part of the New Beverly’s Midnight Grind programming—is the first in what will likely be a series of theatrical exhibitions of Video-X-Pix's extensive library of erotic classics. The New Jersey-based company holds dozens of well-known titles, including award-winning films like Roommates and Jack N Jill.

VXP President Steven Morowitz recently began restoring and preserving his extensive collection of original 35mm negatives, as well as posters and press materials. So far Morowitz has issued “Platinum Elite” collector’s editions of three of VXP's most popular films: Radley Metzger's Maraschino Cherry, the Amero Bros.’ Blonde Ambition and Annie Sprinkle's Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle.

VXP has also recently completed its first-ever HD restorations of Joe Sarno’s Deep Inside Little Oral Annie and Shaun Costello's cult classic XXX Christmas film, The Passions of Carol.

The screening of Wanda will be preceded by a presentation of 35mm classic trailers from the Video-X-Pix collection.

Wanda Whips Wall Street was directed by Revene, an ASC Award-nominated cinematographer, and produced by Chuck Vincent, an award-winning adult and mainstream director and producer. In addition to Veronica Hart, Wanda showcases the talents of Tish Ambrose, Samantha Fox, Jamie Gillis, Sharon Mitchell, Ron Jeremy, and more than 25 additional actors and actresses.

The screening was arranged by film historians and collectors Adam Trash and Joe Rubin. The print being shown—one of the few in existence, is part of Rubin's extensive collection of 35mm adult films. For the past three years, Trash and Rubin have been organizing theatrical revival screenings of some of the finest adult classics ever made, including tributes to Gerard Damiano, Marilyn Chambers and Radley Metzger.

Tickets to the event are $7; all attendees must be 18 and over, with ID. A free DVD giveaway will take place before the screening. According to the New Beverly Cinema website, other guests will be in attendance, schedules permitting. The theater is at 7165 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles (323-938-4038).
