AVN Award-winning director Mason has ended her relationship with production company Elegant Angel.
"Mason decided today, due to some changes that we have had here at Elegant Angel in management, that she didn't feel she could be as creative as she was in the past and that it would compromise her vision," Elegant Angel head Patrick Collins told AVN.com. "Basically, I wanted her to diversify and do things in addition to what she is doing."
"I really respect her for making this decision and doing what she is doing," Collins continued. "I called (Evil Angel head) John Stagliano in Brazil. I didn't get a chance to talk to him but I left a message. There's a lot of companies out there that she could go with but (Evil Angel has) a good track record of actually paying their people and they have good market penetration. I think it would be a good place for her to go."
"It was basically motivated by creative differences," Mason told AVN.com. "I definitely want to maintain my vision At this point, I am really looking forward to taking a couple of weeks off but I do look forward to what the future holds for me.
"I know that we left on very good terms and I am always going to be thankful to Patrick Collins for what he did for me. I have always said he has been a father figure and a mentor and he has really given me a lot of tools and opportunities to develop my craft. I have nothing but respect and praise for Patrick for giving me my first break and I got the chance to work with a lot of fucking cool, very motivating people that I will miss a great deal."
"She has been and will continue to be a real powerful influence on the industry as a whole. She needs to stay true to herself and I need to take Elegant Angel in the direction that I believe it needs to go. I think she's going to do just great," Collins concluded.
Two of Mason's Elegant Angel productions won AVN Awards at this year's show. Mason's Dirty Trixxx won the award for Best Vignette Tape and a scene with Flick Shagwell and Gino Greco in Lady Fellatio in the Doghouse won Best Oral Sex Scene-Video.
