Major London art gallery the Barbican Arts Centre announced yesterday that it will be opening an exhibit in October featuring pieces from the span of history depicting explicit sexual acts and imagery, according to news outlet Telegraph Media Group.
Entitled "Seduced: Art and Sex from Antiquity to Now," the exhibit will include over 250 items ranging from ancient Greco-Roman artifacts to the modern-day works of Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe, assembled from top museums and private collections around the world.
The exhibit will also feature an audio installation with readings from the Kama Sutra, Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita and the writings of the Marquis de Sade, among other texts.
The exhibit is scheduled to run from Oct. 12 of this year through Jan. 27, 2008. For the full Telegraph report, click here.
