CANADA—Renaissance man Kevin Smith is developing a porn-themed sitcom for Canadian pay TV titled Prons. The project is a partnership with Canadian channels The Movie Network and Movie Central, The Hollywood Reporter said today.
"Prons," the trade site added, "is part of an extensive development slate at The Movie Network, which includes another comedy, Method, from Saving Hope producers Ilana Frank, David Wellington and Sonia Hosko."
Scripted by Smith and Aaron Martin (Saving Hope), the comedy involves a famous porn star who tries to "escape the business" by returning to his childhood home in Brantford, Ontario.
Smith of course also wrote and directed the 2008 comedy, Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
