In Japan, the law requires that everything below the waist be pixilated out of adult videos. That makes it possible that a Japanese porn star can go their entire career without having sex - no one can really tell because of the pixelation. Basically, Japanese women only perform in softcore videos.

JapanX is looking to change all of that. And while they’re not holding their breath for the law to change in Japan, they don’t want to break the law either. So operating out of the United States, JapanX has been casting Japanese women and men in American style hardcore adult videos for the past two years - sending pixelated versions back to Japan, but offering the hardcore versions to consumers in tbe United States.
“It’s pretty rare to find real Japanese girls doing real hardcore porn. I think that we are the first to be able to achieve that,” Dave Catain, spokesman for JapanX told AVN.com. "For instance, we do cream pies, anal, and gang bangs. Japanese girls usually don’t do that.”
JapanX has already released 38 titles, but only through Xonair.com. Both JapanX and Xonair.com are owned by the same parent company, the IDC Group. In fact, their relationship with one of the largest adult retailers online is considered one of their greatest advantages.
“We get feedback from our customers directly. So if they would like to see cream pie, we’ll shoot one and put it out next month,” Catain said. “If they would like to see ass-to-mouth, we’ll shoot ass-to-mouth and put it out the next month. We’re constantly watching the trends and we try to be there and jump on them.”
By looking at the last names of his customers, Caitan estimates that about 50 percent of his customers are American citizens of Japanese descent, and about 50 percent are just Japanophiles
Japanese Super Idols, the best selling series for the studio, is a series that takes some of the top names in Japanese porn, and features them having real hardcore sex. Famous Japanese porn stars such as Hitomi Hasagawa, Ai Nagase, Anna Miyashita, Sayaka Tsutsumi and Nao Oikawa, whom Catain says is the “Jenna Jameson of Japan,” appear in that series having hardcore sex.
“The women who do this become even more famous. People want to see them do this. For a lot of them, this is their first time to really have hardcore sex on camera,” Catain said.
JapanX shoots mostly in Tokyo, but they also took a team of Japanese men to Europe to shoot a number of series based on Japanese men and European women including Euro Wedding, Euro Castle, and Euro Car Sex.
Currently, JapanX is releasing six titles a month. Other titles they release include Tokyo Cream Pie, Tokyo Gang Bang, X-Mode, Anime, Cum Together, Tokyo Big Bust, and Tokyo Nurse.
Oddly enough, JapanX decided not to release a bukkake series, even though that genre originates from Japan. “In the United States the law is too gray and we decided not to take the chance,” Catain said.
JapanX may seek a more traditional line of distribution in the future, but for now are content to sell their titles online.
