JacktheZipper Strikes Again

Blacklight Beauty winning Best All-Sex Release at the 2007 AVN Awards (a rare tie with director Eon McKai's Neu Wave Hookers from VCA) made JacktheZipper (JTZ) one of the few directors to pull off a hat trick of consecutive wins in a major category.

A year in the making, Blacklight Beauty, released by Pulse Pictures, followed in the footsteps of JTZ's other winners, Stuntgirl (Clockwork Pictures, 2005) and Squealer (Hustler Video, 2006).

"It makes me happy that Blacklight broke through this year, because it shows that you can explore different ideas and still find a large audience," JTZ told AVN.com. "Making porn has turned into a factory, and I need to thank Pulse for letting me see how far we could go with this one movie."

JacktheZipper won a second major award of the evening for Best Director – Non-Feature, also for Blacklight Beauty. "We were particularly thrilled that JacktheZipper won the award for Best Director," said Pulse Pictures co-owner Mark Hamilton. "Non-feature titles make up a significant majority of all released movies, and include vignette, gonzo and all-sex releases. For him to win this award twice in the last three years is a great accomplishment."

Blacklight Beauty is only the fourth release from the low-key director. His first two titles, Stuntgirl and Stuntgirl 2, are expected to be available in early 2007 from Pulse Pictures as a specially re-packaged, limited edition collector's box set.
