Indian Producer/Director Team Plans Flick on India’s Porn Biz

DELHI, India—Brothers Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, the producer and director team, respectively, of dozens of popular Bollywood films and co-owners of the production company Vishesh Films, are reportedly planning a movie about India’s porn industry.

According to Total Filmy, the working title of the film is XXX. Mukesh is set to produce and director Kunal Deshmukh has agreed to helm the project, but there controversy is already brewing over the cast. An article published today notes that “actor Emraan Hashmi (pictured) has been roped in for the lead role,” but maybe not.

“However, the confusion occurred when Emraan confirmed his presence in the film, producer, Mukesh Bhatt denied it and [Deshmukh] pretended to be completely ignorant of the matter.”

According to a source close to the Bhatt camp, “The film is two steps ahead of Kalyug and is based on the porn industry in India. The plot has three stories. Emraan Hashmi is not doing the film, just like he was reluctant to do Kalyug initially.” The source added that Hashmi is no longer interested in doing sex scenes, and wants to change his “serial kisser image.”

But when asked by The Times of India whether he was doing Deshmukh’s porn film, the star of Jannat replied, "Yessssssss, I am doing XXX."

So much drama before anyone has even said, “Action!”
