CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Joel Lawrence’s adult modeling agency, Goldstar Modeling, has added a feature dancing division. Lawrence told AVN that he hopes the new section will fully materialize at the beginning of 2008, and the company will transition into Goldstar Modeling and Dance Network.
“The philosophy behind this growth is about turning an agency into a one-stop shop,” said Lawrence, “and fully maximizing all the revenue streams for the performers. Feature dancing is a huge component in the spectrum; almost a sister industry behind performing. A lot of girls transition between the two at different times in their careers. By creating this branch, we’re making a sort of 3-D way of representing each girl…keeping it all under one umbrella.”
Lawrence opened Goldstar in March of 2005. Drawing on his personal experience as an adult actor and dance agent in San Francisco, the 19-year porn vet quickly built up the business into one of the leading porn talent agencies.
According to Lawrence, the company will split the duties of the new feature dancing division between veteran dancer and adult performer Lexi Lamour and Goldstar Modeling’s Hee Kim. “Lexi has been in the feature dancing industry for eight years,” explained Lawrence. “She has the contacts and knows how to assess the ladies, in terms of seeing if they have what it takes…she’ll handle all the human resource aspects of the division.”
Lawrence said that Lamour will head up a “feature dancing school,” assessing each starlet's qualifications for headline status. “Lexi will also show them techniques, talk to them about getting the right outfits, the right contacts, et cetera,” he said.
Lawrence plans on launching the division with an estimated 25 girls, as well as an additional 30 girls who would be represented for house dancing.
“We have a lot of interest right now, and we’re really far along in developing this," Lawrence said. "There will be some crossover with the girls on our existing roster of girls, but there will also be some girls we represent just for dancing. We have some really big names that we’re in negotiations with, but we’re not quite ready to announce them yet.”
Lawrence’s agency has grown to over 100 girls and fourteen guys in the last two years, among them are Katie Morgan, Kylie Rachelle, Nadia Styles, Natasha Nice, Renae Cruz, Whitney Stevens and Tyler Faith.
