Georgia City Council Drafts Anti-Porn Ordinance

On Dec. 11, city officials proposed a new ordinance that would increase restrictions on adult businesses. According to the Walton Tribune, the Social Circle City Council hopes to keep adult establishments at a distance of 1000 feet from churches, schools and government buildings.

“With the tremendous growth and diversity our community will face, particularly in the future, this kind of public safety ordinance is important to protect the health of the community,” Mayor Jim Burgess told the Tribune. “We don’t want unhealthy influences coming into our town. We’re really concerned about that.”

The City Council will vote on the ordinance after a public hearing on Jan. 8.
