HOLLYWOOD - Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and films including Scooby-Doo and The Grudge, plays the role of Krysta Now, a porn star turned reality show host, in director Richard Kelly's upcoming film Southland Tales.

Tales is Kelly's follow-up to his 2001 cult hit Donnie Darko, and takes place in a 2008 Los Angeles ravaged by the aftermath of a nuclear explosion in Texas. Its release has been long delayed, possibly due to the poor reception an unfinished version got at last year's Cannes Film Festival. But recent online reports indicate that the film is nearing completion, and that a release date and trailer will soon be delivered.

Of her role in Tales, Gellar said, "It's not actually as bad as it sounds. I'm a porn star with a heart of gold. I'm also a porn star with an entrepreneurial spirit. I have my own clothing lines, my own album, my own warming gel … what would you call it? My own lubricant line."
