Final Day Of A High Energy AEE Closes

Fans and retailers packed the corridors of AVN’s Adult Entertainment Expo for the final day of the show today and many present seemed invigorated by the show experience as a whole and also by last night’s blockbuster of an AVN Awards Show.

While early estimates of show attendance were unavailable at press time, the crowds of people at this show definitely were still solid today and lines to get autographs and photos with porn stars were still the norm on the floor.

Wicked Pictures, who had a successful awards show with the company’s sixth consecutive win in the Best Actress—Video category with Jessica Drake in Fluff And Fold taking the trophy, had a busy morning with lines of attendees waiting for Drake and the other Wicked Girls.

“2005 has gotten off to a great start for us. This show has been a tremendous outreach to the fans and an unprecedented outreach for us on the retail level and on an international level with the new deals that we have been able to get into place during the course of this show alone,” Wicked publicity director Daniel Metcalf said.

A sleepy but radiant Julia Ann was happily signing for posters and she reflected the state of many present after the late night last night saying, “It’s day four and I am just running on adrenaline now!”

Oriental Dream Pictures’ staff was all smiles showcasing the company’s first-ever AVN Award in a category with a lot of stiff competition this year (the company won Best Ethnic-Themed Release—Asian for Dress-Up Doll Asuka) and company general manager Bryce Tsuneta happily showed off the trophy on a table in his booth as Japanese stars Sarina Kuramoto and Asuka Otaki signed for fans.”

“Winning an AVN Award is absolutely amazing,” Tsuneta told AVN.com. “It was so unexpected—this was our first time attending the awards also….I am so happy about the award that I can’t even put it into words. The show has been so great for us—the fans are so supportive of our girls and our titles.

The DVSX booth had a stream of happy fans getting autographs with seven different porn stars—Alex Devine, Carmen Hayes, Katrina Kraven, Katie Morgan, Olivia O’Lovely, Gen Padova and Sammie Rhodes—signing in the booth as well as what company publicist Jennifer Main termed “porn rats” which she defined as scantily clad chicks “working it for free” as their live DJ continued to keep the music going. Main proudly added that MTV’s Viva La Bam cast had been by their booth the day before and had shot a bunch of footage of the show’s stars working their skater punk magic on the booth’s stripper pole.

“We feel like this year has taken us over the top,” Main told AVN. “This show was chaotic with the level of the crowd but we really got our names out there. Sales-wise, it was an excellent show for us, too.”

Pleasure Productions sales manager Dan Motola took a break from talk about how the show was for his company, saying, “This show was truly outstanding for us. It’s always good to have a chance to connect the faces with the voices that you hear on the phone every day. We will be putting out a lot of good product that people are going to get excited about in 2005.”

The crowd did take a early moment in the day to enjoy the wedding of performers Annie Cruz and Jack Lawrence in KSEX Radio’s booth atop the Adam & Eve booth. Performer Daphne Rosen was the maid of honor and Best Male Newcomer Tommy Gunn was the best man in a ceremony highlighted with the bride tossing her panties to the cheering mass before cake was served.
