You could feel the meeting of adult entertainment’s past and future Sunday, as AVN Hall Of Famer Christy Canyon had a brief conversation with celebrated newcomer Sunny Lane at this year’s 15th Annual Fans of X-rated Entertainment Awards (FOXE). Canyon was on hand to be “broasted” (honored) and Lane would be given the Vixen Award.
The ceremony for the fan-centered awards was held at legendary jazz venue, the Mayflower Ballroom, in Los Angeles. Bill Margold, the event organizer and founder of the non-profit PAW (Protecting Adult Welfare), mc-ed the event, and had plenty to say about the FOXE’s storied history, as well as some optimistic notes on where he speculates adult entertainment is heading.
Jesse Jane, the recipient of this year’s FOXE for Female Fan Favorite, was traveling and not able to attend, but the rest of the award-winners were in attendance, along with a couple dozen adult stars, from the past and present. The ballroom was bustling as Lexington Steele and Tera Patrick were both “retired,” after winning three previous FOXE awards. Randy Spears, now a Wicked contract star, won FOXE Male Fan Favorite (his third win).

For her broasting, Canyon was sat in a throne on stage, while fans and industry alike did everything from read speeches that remembered the adult legend’s contributions to the industry, to reciting poems (Ron Jeremy read a particularly memorable one).
The awards were also accompanied by several dance performances, including ones by Devin Devine and Lane, herself.
In addition to the award winners, several members of the industry were in attendance, including Flower Tucci, Alicia Rio, Lori Lust, Tianna Taylor, Sierra Sin, Felix Vicious, Serena, Miss Meadow, Gianna Lynn, Jacklyn Lick, Cousin Stevie and publicist April Storm.
Adult entertainment’s past was clear as the ceremony pressed on into the night, with people like Margold and Canyon and the reemergence of adult legend Serena. The Vixen Award recipient Lane seems to have bluntly underlined adult’s momentum into tomorrow, as she exclaimed “let’s keep fucking and sucking into the future,” after winning her award.
