Epic Interactive Launches

Roy Karch, president of Empire Video Distributors, has announced the formation of Epic Interactive, Inc., a new production company.

“It’s the next logical step for us,” Karch said. “We have the infrastructure already in place with Empire — sales force, warehouse space, shipping capabilities and industry relationships. Now it’s just a matter of acquiring product that is up to the highest standards.”

Karch is an industry veteran who shouldn't be confused with the veteran director for Sex Z Pictures and Adam & Eve of the same name.

The Empire president's first move was to hire Ed Kail as national sales manager.

Kail, an industry fixture, has over 25 years of adult sales experience, more than 20 at VCA Pictures. More recently, Kail sold for Elegant Angel. “I’ve been contemplating starting my own line for quite some time,” said Karch. “But when Ed became available, it was suddenly a no-brainer. “Ed’s one of the best-known salesmen in the industry and enjoys working relationships with virtually every major buyer in the country. What director wouldn’t jump at the chance to have Ed Kail’s selling power behind their product?”

Kail, for his part, couldn’t be more excited to be joining the fledgling venture. “When I became available, I received numerous calls from companies inquiring about my services. But after getting to know Roy over the past few years and after extensive one-on-one conversations about what he planned to do, I knew that this was where I wanted to be.”

Joining the company as Executive Vice President is Adam Jay, who will oversee production and marketing. Jay has previous experience in mainstream production, marketing and online creative direction.

Epic plans to build its image as a home of cutting edge films in tune with the latest artistic trends and technological advances. Further, the company wants to be a safe haven for established directors looking for a distributor who will truly look out for their best interests.

“Empire Video Distributors is like a family, and that’s the same atmosphere I plan to foster with Epic,” Karch said. “I want this company to be a place where working directors can come to feel safe and taken care of, both creatively and financially. After all, if they make money, I make money, so it behooves me to be fair and honest and totally transparent. We’re here for the long haul and we want to build relationships that last. It’s the only way I know how to do business.”
