Eon McKai, Dana DeArmond Take Baltimore

Vivid-Alt head Eon McKai and performer Dana DeArmond drew an enthusiastic crowd during an in-store appearance at The Sound Garden in Baltimore last Thursday.

"We were unsure of what the turnout would be, but we weren't disappointed," said Sound Garden store manager, Brian Burkert. "These two bring the people out. Take a look at our best sellers for the past week and you can see what we mean."

DeArmond's latest release, Dana DeArmond Does the Internet, came in as the number three seller for the store last week and McKai's Girls Lie came in at number eight, among mainstream movies like The Last King of Scotland and Casino Royale.

Also on the horizon for the production company are Octavio Winkytiki's Man's Ruin and McKai's own The Doll Underground.

"In addition to selling a ton of these two movies, we sold a good amount of some other Vivid-Alt titles as well," continued Burket. "They were extremely gracious as they stayed for more than three hours to meet everyone and take pictures. Eon also contacted different clubs in the city and set up a guerilla street team to further promote the appearance."

The morning of the in-store, the alt-porn duo also appeared on 98Rock — Baltimore's #1 rock station — for an on-air interview. After the in-store, everyone who bought a Vivid-Alt DVD was invited to a special private party later that night that we set up as well.

"This was a unique event for us and we would encourage any of the other stores to do the same," said Burket.
