ELA Day Three: That's a Wrap

LOS ANGELES — The closing day of Erotica LA 2009 was languid as Sundays tend to be, but still saw a steady stream of fans enthralled to get up close and personal with their favorite adult stars. And the stars remained ever upbeat.

Former Club Jenna contract girl Roxy Jezel, dressed in military-esque gear to keep in spirit with the "Hero's Sunday" free admission granted for the day to those in the service, greeted fans with a beaming smile at her table within the Stilleto magazine booth space. This very well may have been her last adult convention appearance, as she plans to retire from the industry after August.

"The end of August is it," Jezel told AVN. "No more fucking. On camera." Until then, however, she said her days will continue to be filled with "shagging a lot, studying a lot and diddlin' my bits." After August, she becomes a full-time human services student and intern, and plans to pursue a master's degree in the field once she's finished her current program.

Joanna Angel kept a good game face on at the BurningAngel booth despite a horrific personal turn of events: her brand new, high-priced SUV was stolen out of the Staples Center parking garage. Joanna being Joanna, she made as much light of the situation as she could, including putting up the following post on Twitter: "I just checked tweet deck to see if anyone wrote 'yo – I totally just stole joanna angel's car!!' with a possible GPS link but – no luck."

As of post time, LoJack had yet to recover the vehicle.

Cohort Brian Street Team, who last weekend shot his fifth porn scene for Joanna's L.A. Pink, had an extended discourse to offer on ... well, we're not entirely sure, but here's some of it:

"I just signed my first autograph — I pointed out the fact that the picture of me had my wiener on it. I just would like everybody at AVN to know that I am not 'and friends.' I am Brian Street Team. I have seen several pictures of me on the website that says whoever 'and friends.' I am their friend, yes, but I also have my own name, so don't fucking forget it. Joanna Angel is my feature dancer that I roadie for, and I love her to death, and she blew me in a movie one time. There are a lot of hookers here ... oh, I'm sorry, performers, that are really very sweet. I have a new crush on Lexi Love because she showed up today to Erotica wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and I just thought that was super hot. Belladonna's signing pictures of her ass next to me, and she's amazing. And I got her phone number — what's up, bitches?!"

Lexi Belle, who was signing for CamZ, attracted a lot of attention darting about the whole day on a pair of roller skates, which she said she chose "because I like to wear roller skates, and I think it's fun, and all day yesterday I was hula-hooping, so today I thought I'd wear roller skates! In this giant room with the hard floors full of boys, I like running into them and falling in front of them. It's really cute. They like it."

Other girls who seemed constantly surrounded by lights, cameras and action included Bree Olson at the Adam & Eve booth, Brynn Tyler and Ashli Orion at the Pink Kitty Video booth, and the supreme trio at the abutting LA Direct Models booth of Kagney Linn Karter, Alexis Texas and newly-crowned F.A.M.E. Awards Favorite Rookie Starlet Tori Black.

Contract sister to Olson Kayden Kross earned the distinction of most popular star signing at the convention via online voting at www.erotica-la.com. Kayden obliterated all competition with a whopping 2,109 votes.

The internet became more an integral part of ELA this year than ever before, with AVN's first mobile site, m.erotica-la.com, providing real-time updates of activities, porn star appearances and more that folks with smart phones could use to navigate the show right from the convention floor. The mobile site launched June 8, just four days before the show opened, and it attracted more than 3,500 unique visitors in its first nine days.

AVN also used Twitter (@EroticaLA, @AVNMediaNetwork and @BehindAVN) to keep fans and stars abreast of goings on as they happened. Nearly 5,000 people came to Erotica-LA.com by way of one of AVN's Twitter accounts. In addition, the AVN Digital Media department created a Google Calendar of the entire convention schedule downloadable to mobile devices in one step.

Overall, most seemed very pleased with Erotica '09. Offered up-and-coming male performer Dane Cross, "I was thinking it was going to be really, really dead, but from what I've heard from the girls, they're really happy, actually. And I made a lot of really good connections and spoke with people, and it should be good."

Attendance goals for the weekend were met despite the economy, according to organizers, and the event received major press coverage from outlets including ABC, CNN, E!, G4 and Playboy TV. In addition, the Hero's Sunday and concurrent Economic Stimulus promotions (the latter for laid-off individuals) were gauged successes.
