Dr. Sadie Allison: The New Sexologist

SAN FRANCISCO – Though many of us grew up with her sage wisdom about subjects like multiple orgasms and anal play, there will come a time when we’ll need to look for someone other than Dr. Ruth for our sex advice.

Enter the young and beautiful Dr. Sadie Allison. Like Ruth and other high-profile sex experts such as Sue Johansen, Allison’s advice has helped people around the world discover new sexual joys.

“I have huge respect for women like Dr. Ruth and ["Sex For One" author] Betty Dodson,” Allison told AVN. “They’re the pioneers of this field and practiced in a time when it was much tougher for women to speak out about, and be knowledgeable of, sexuality. Without them, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.”

Allison is a certified sexologist and author of the books "Tickle His Pickle," "TOYGASMS" and "Tickle Your Fancy." All of her books are best-selling, award winners and to date, have sold more than 650,000 copies. She’s done dozens of television and radio appearances sharing advice with men and women on how to please each other.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Allison graduated from San Diego State University and earned her doctorate in Human Sexuality in 2005 from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality.

According to Allison, her roots as sexpert go all the way back to high school — where she was referred to as “the little Dr. Ruth.”

“I always felt comfortable with my body and my budding sexuality,” said Allison. “That's why I was so puzzled when my closest girlfriends confided in me how they were frustrated, confused and let down by sex. I discovered that many of my friends never masturbated, few orgasmed, and most found intercourse to be an awkward, self-conscious act.”

Allison, who is also known as “America’s Pleasure Coach,” is the founder and CEO of Tickle Kitty, Inc, a publishing company and online sex shop. According to Allison, she created Tickle Kitty because she learned that “women and men prefer to rely on one source they trust for guidance on personal sex topics, such as best sex toy recommendations, answers to questions about sex and new ways to increase sexual pleasure.”

Her newest book, "Ride ‘Em Cowgirl!; Sex Position Secrets for Better Bucking" is set for release on Nov. 1 by Tickle Kitty. “It will really set a new standard for sex position books,” she explained. “Many position books on the market today make for great gag gifts full of stick figure positions, or night-stand photo books. Others are really outdated. What my book focuses on is how to become a better lover once you are in those positions; how to maximize them with hit-the-spots stokes, angles and movements. I always write my books for the common person, with practical techniques almost anyone can learn to perform. I give straight forward dialogue, and go deeper into the subject with more pleasure tips, details and in'ormation. It’s all about having fun, expanding your lovemaking repertoire and hearing from your lover, “Wow! No one’s ever done that to me before!'"

Allison breaks "Ride ‘Em Cowgirl!" down into specific positions such as missionary and spooning, and then delves deeper to address the G-spot, the he-spot, anal and more. The book also includes a “What Ifs?” section with real-life scenarios like working around height and weight differences.

“I talk with real people about unique sexual techniques and tips, in addition to my own experiences and thorough research, " the author said. “Even though the book is titled "Ride ‘Em Cowgirl!" — which is one of the best positions for women — this book is a sexual empowerment guide for both women and men. I speak to each of them in all of the chapters. It’s all about improving your sex life. People hire coaches for things like their finances and the gym…why not get some advice from Americas’ Pleasure Coach about sex? If there’s anything that’s worth improving I’d like to think it would be someone’s sex life!”
