Dennis Hof Moving Ahead with Plans for Canadian Brothels

NEVADABunny Ranch owner Dennis Hof has announced he is going full steam ahead with plans to expand his seven-brothel Nevada empire into Canada by opening legal houses of prostitution in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in 2014. Hof’s announcement comes on the heels of the recent unanimous decision by the Canadian Supreme Court declaring anti-prostitution laws unconstitutional throughout the northern nation.

Hof had previously explored the idea of opening a chain of “Bunny Ranches” in Canada, but put the plans on hold pending the Canadian Supreme Court decision. Now, with the final legal barrier removed, Hof says he wants to have at least three Canadian versions of his flagship Bunny Ranch up and running by the end of next year.

“I have always appreciated that Canada has a very progressive view of women’s rights, and prostitution, and there are lessons the U.S. can learn from them,” said Hof. “In the U.S., legal brothels are restricted to just a few counties in Nevada, but Canada is now wide open, and we intend to make the most of it!”

While prostitution itself was not illegal in Canada, the landmark ruling struck down three related laws concerning street soliciting, living on the earnings of a prostitute and maintaining a brothel. Now, all three, pending a legal re-write by the Canadian government, are permitted.

Hof added that he and his advisers, along with a platoon of "Bunny girls," will undertake a “tour” of Canada early next year to scout out brothel locations. He said he has already been approached by dozens of wealthy Canadian investors wanting to get in on the ground floor of what will become that nation’s first-ever fully legal brothels.

Hof said he is eager to join Canada in celebrating their newfound X-rated freedoms, and estimated the current underground sex trade in Canada exceeds $5 billion annually.

“The Canadian Charter of Rights And Freedoms—their version of the US constitution—has prevailed for the people and prostitutes of Canada. Now it’s time to make sure it’s done the right way so legalized prostitution is a win-win-win for everyone involved—from the customers, to the girls, to the public,” said Hof.
