As of Dec. 15, Allen Gold will depart his post as vice president of sales for Cherry Boxxx to pursue opportunities outside the adult industry.
“It’s been a great ride,” Gold said. “The industry’s been very good to me. I have an opportunity to work in the family business that I’ve decided to take; otherwise, I probably would have stayed on.”
Gold entered the adult industry in 1984 as a salesman for L.A. Video, where he spent four years learning the trade. After an extended hiatus from the business, Gold returned in 1997 as vice president of sales for VCA Interactive. When Hustler Video bought VCA in 2003, Gold joined up with K-Beech owner Kevin Beechum to launch Cherry Boxxx.
Gold cites AVN award-winner Pornomation as a highlight of his three-and-a-half-year stint at K-Beech. The animated show took home the Best Alternative Release award at the 2006 ceremony in January. Pornomation 2 is currently nominated for the same honor.
“I’m going to miss a lot of people,” said Gold. “Everybody’s been so good to me, from customers to distributors to directors. Kevin is one of the most wonderful guys to work for in this business, and we remain good friends.”
