Charmane Star Attends Deauville Film Fest in France

LOS ANGELES—Adult performer Charmane Star recently returned from France where she promoted her appearance in the upcoming movie Black Dynamite at the Deauville American Film Festival.

Star, along with Charlotte Stokely and Erika Vuition, plays a “lady of leisure” in the blaxploitation film that stars Michael Jai White (Dark Knight, Spawn) and was directed by Scott Sanders. Justine Joli also makes a cameo in the movie.

“It’s gone to all the film festivals already and coming back from France we got a really big response from it,” Star said. “It’s like a dark, blaxploitation kung-fu comedy...It’s hilarious. Sony Pictures bought the movie here.”

The movie makes its world premiere at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood on Oct. 15 and will be released nationwide on Oct. 16.

Star said that the director was looking for all-natural girls to be the “Ladies of Leisure” because fake boobs weren’t around in the 1970s.

“And he picked me for the part of the Asian girl. I didn’t have to audition for it which was nice. It was nice to be picked,” she said. “I shot this two years ago and didn’t think it was any big deal then, and then they called me and said, ‘Do you want to go to [the Sundance Film Festival in January?]’ And then I started going on all the press tours with them.”

Star told AVN that attending the festival in the small town of Deauville was “the best experience of my life.”

“I got to see Andy Garcia, Meryl Streep and I was walking the red carpet with them. Fucking amazing,” Star said. “There were huge crowds and they even knew my name. They would call me ‘Mademoiselle Charmane.’”

Even though she has enjoyed the recent mainstream attention, Star said that her focus is still on adult.

“It’s a privilege and I am excited but people know me as this. I’ve already reached my career goal of being a name. But this is a privilege, it’s not everything,” she said. “I’m out there and going in a pretty good direction and I’m happy.”

Star recently returned to performing in boy/girl scenes after a two-year hiatus, shooting last week for Naughty America. She has also been busy touring the country as a feature dancer and recently appeared in the music video for “That’s How I Go,” a hip-hop track by Baby Bash featuring Lil Jon.

“I like change. I like growing and doing new stuff like this part, that’s why I’m really excited about it,” she said. “I’ve been on the road for three months. Now I’m grounding myself. I told my managers ‘I’m home.’”

Star can be reached at [email protected] or through A-list Talent Management and her official site is http://www.charmanexxx.com.
