Canadian Officials Oppose Ron Jeremy Appearance

OSHAWA, Ontario – An upcoming nightclub appearance by Ron Jeremy has upset some local politicians. According to reports, city councilors have voiced objections to the presence of Jeremy's name on the marquee of downtown Oshawa club The Big Sexy, where the AVN Hall of Famer is scheduled to appear as part of the bar's Playboy-Palooza event.

“I was shocked to see his name advertised downtown; this isn't what Oshawa is about,” City Councilor John Henry told newsdurhamregion.com. “We've spent a tremendous amount of money to improve the image of Oshawa and the downtown and when something like this happens it makes it harder for us to continue the good work that we're doing.”

Henry raised the issue at this week's meeting of the Downtown Action Committee.

“There is nothing we can do in terms of pre-emptive action, but we will be monitoring the situation,” Jerry Conlin, the City's director of municipal law enforcement and licensing, told newsdurhamregion.com.

The stop will be part of Jeremy’s tour to promote his book, “The Hardest (Working) Man in Showbiz.”

This is the third year the Oshawa club has hosted the Playboy event.

Kent Robinson, manager of The Big Sexy, told newsdurhamregion.com that he has had several requests from customers to bring Jeremy to the club, and can't understand what all the fuss is about.

“This is all in good taste, there is no nudity, it's just Ron Jeremy hosting the event and speaking at the microphone with nothing inappropriate happening,” he said. “It's good, clean fun.”
