California City's Planning Commission Approves Zone Changes

The Santa Fe Springs Planning Commission approved a proposal to revise two zoning ordinances affecting sexually-oriented businesses, the Whittier Daily News reported.

The proposed amendments would do away with a rule requiring a 500-foot distance between adult stores and churches. If passed, the revised laws could potentially add up to 600,000 feet of additional space for sex shops. According to the Daily News report, the Planning Commission agreed to the zone changes “to comply with Supreme Court rulings.”

The amendments will be considered by the City Council on Dec. 21.
