CNN Covers Porn-to-Mainstream Crossovers

LOS ANGELES—With the recent news that male performer James Deen is starring in Bret Easton Ellis' and Paul Schrader's new project, The Canyons, with Lindsay Lohan, CNN.com has trumpeted six other performers with mainstream Hollywood bona fides.

Featured along with Deen in the slideshow are Sasha Grey, Ron Jeremy, Jenna Jameson, Traci Lords, Jenna Haze and Ginger Lynn. Jeremy is still active in the biz, and sadly, all the ladies featured have retired from performing.

While Grey is the most recent performer to "cross over" on CNN's list, Deen is angling to eclipse her with The Canyons. Written by American Pscyho author Ellis, and directed by Schrader, who penned Raging Bull and Taxi Driver, the plot centers on Deen who plays a "film producer who enjoys filming his own three-way sex sessions," according to IndieWire.

The Canyons is set to film next month in Los Angeles.

While articles discussing the mainstream success of adult entertainers are old hat at this point, it's nice to see CNN.com give this piece such prominent coverage on its homepage.
