Britney Rears to Launch Radio Campaign at Music Conference

Britney Rears will travel to Austin, Texas today to begin the radio campaign on her national tour to promote Britney Rears: Wild Back Stage Sex Party.

The X-Play/VCA Pictures release came out last week featuring Rears engaged in hardcore sex scenes. Her theme song, “I Wanna Get Laid,” is being delivered to over 200 radio stations across the country as part of a deal with UNCLE, an independent radio promotions firm.

With help from Peter Reynolds, vice president of marketing and sales for VCA, the UNCLE radio promotion kicks off on Friday in Austin at the popular South by Southwest Music and Radio Conference that annually attracts record and radio executives.

“We have no illusions that the Britney theme song will be a big charting hit song and all of that, however the early reaction is that it is perfect for various drive-time slots and is aimed at those who like the idea of a tongue-in-cheek spoof of Britney Spears,” said Jeff Mullen, president of All Media Play, which is promoting the project.

X-Play has produced a bleeped-out radio version of the song with “Britney sound effects” that will be included in an upcoming segment on the “Howard Stern Show.” The company recorded the Rears soundtrack at ISR Studios in Hollywood using professional musicians.

Meanwhile, Rears will be a special guest at a Red Bull-sponsored party Friday in Austin. Her tour entails radio interviews, in-store appearances and stops at strip clubs, where she will unveil the “Britney Lip Syncs Britney” strip show.
