Boston Likely to Approve Strip Club Expansion

The city Licensing Board has approved plans to expand the Centerfolds Gentlemen’s Club.

On Thursday, the board delayed a vote on whether to allow the expansion of the club, but officials said they are willing to give approval to the project if its owners agree to a new restriction, the Boston Herald reported.

The board said it wants assurances that added space will not be used for bachelor parties or other events that would attract “busloads of inebriated people” to the facility, located at the multi-story Combat Zone Club.

Paul Sporn an attorney who represents Centerfolds’ Hanover management firm, said the club’s owners agreed to the condition.

Centerfolds said it plans to use the third floor of the building for bar space and seating to handle overflow crowds. The floor is currently used as office and storage space.

Club officials have met with expansion opponents from the Mayor’s office as well as Boston Police officials, neighborhood groups and representatives of nearby Emerson College.
