Axel Braun to Speak as Part of U. of Chicago Sex Week

CHICAGO—Following the lead of several other esteemed colleges, the University of Chicago has put on its own Sex Week that began Monday and runs through Sunday, featuring a wide range of panels and presentations on everything from anal sex to polyamory.

Representing the adult industry on the programming schedule will be still-reigning AVN Director of the Year Axel Braun, whose credentials include a MENSA membership and a Ph.D. in Psychology. Braun will Skype in to students for a Q&A Saturday at 3 p.m. following a screening of his Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody (the non-sex version).

"I have spoken at various universities over the years, and it's always an exciting experience," Braun told AVN. "The students have legitimate questions that are very different from the ones I am usually asked in interviews, and the dialogue is open and refreshing."

He continued, "Star Wars XXX has a huge following in the college demographic, and being able to screen it at such a prestigious venue in front of hundreds of fans is a terrific opportunity that I am very much looking forward to."

Other events remaining on the U. of Chicago Sex Week schedule include a panel at 5 p.m. today on sex work, followed by an off-campus improv comedy show at 9 p.m. titled "Genitalia the Musical." Among the offerings Saturday and Sunday are screenings of documentaries The Perfect Vagina and The Moon Inside You, panels on rope-tying, transsexuality and the G-spot, and a workshop on nude photography.
