Arrow Debuts ‘Debbie Does Dallas’ Comic

LAS VEGAS – “Debbie Does Dallas,” the first in a line of comics based on adult classics being co-produced by Arrow Productions and Terminal Press, makes its official debut at the 2008 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.

As described to AVN by writer Brian Ferrara, the comic’s radical re-telling of the Debbie tale places our heroine in a Dallas that is now “the epicenter of the apocalypse beginning. God’s wrath on earth are the mutated residents of Dallas. Debbie is the intermediary between humanity and the divine. She is Jesus, she is the prophet. Dallas is overrun, Debbie finds an abandoned military mech suit, suits up, and needs to battle her way out of Dallas before the Unites States government nukes it off the face of the earth to contain the zombie outbreak.

“So,” Ferrara summed up, “it’s exactly like the original Debbie Does Dallas.”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the legendary film, and the comic — being offered in a special, numbered limited edition at AEE — serves as just one part of the grand plans Arrow has to commemorate both this milestone and another occurring simultaneously, the 35th anniversary of fellow X-rated classic The Devil in Miss Jones.

“This year we’re going to blow up both titles like never before,” said Arrow marketing director Robert Interlandi. “We are going to do all kinds of stuff that I don’t even want to divulge right now, because I want it to shock everybody as the year goes on.”

Added Ferrara, “This is just the first of what we’re working on. Think of the classic, iconic stuff, and we’re going to take it just as crazy as we did with ‘Debbie.’ There’s more stuff coming out, and it really just shows that these are iconic properties that stretch way beyond what this was 30 years ago. To my generation, this is part of pop culture, and it’s a world that a writer and a creative team can play inside of, and we’re just enjoying playing with this mythos that’s already created and letting us be a part of it.”

Arrow Productions is located at Booth 5068 in Hall A of the Sands Expo Center.
