As reported by the Associated Press on Saturday, Army officials are investigating allegations that members of the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Ft. Bragg have appeared on a gay porn website.
Though the website was not named in the report, an AP follow-up story this morning says the site's owner lists a street address in Fayetteville, the city that adjoins Ft. Bragg. This makes it very unlikely that the site is anyone's but Dink Flamingo's whose popular Active Duty brand specializes in paratroopers.
According to the AP, authorities at Ft. Bragg have begun an inquiry into whether the paratroopers' actions violate the military conduct code.
The military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy states that homosexual orientation is not a bar to service, but homosexual conduct is incompatible with military service. Service personnel who violate this policy are removed from the military.
In this morning's update, the AP reported that a group of paratroopers from the elite 82nd Airborne Division have been moved from their regular barracks while military officials investigate the porn allegations. A spokesperson for the Army was quoted as saying that the move was prompted by "concerns for the soldiers' privacy and rights, not for fears about their safety."
As many as seven soldiers are being investigated, according to the AP story.
