Angel Burns Up: Repenetrator Party

Last night the worlds of porn and gore and punk and performance art and comedy and cigarettes and beer came together, and, as the Lord once said, it was good. The soiree, held at Il Corral in Silverlake, was the West Coast premiere of Burning Angel’s Joanna Angel’s short film, Repenetrator. Basically a 20-minute fuck film filtered through the camp gore vision of '60s bloodsploitation pioneer Herschel Gordon Lewis, Repenetrator (exactly, think Reanimator, fan boys) offers the lovely petite slattern Angel as a blood-soaked, stripper heel-wearing dead girl who is brought back to life by, yes, a mad scientist.

The doc does things to his monster that Frankenstein never dared, boffing with gusto as the blood and entrails fly. Good clean fun, and thoroughly enjoyed by the black-clad hipster crowd that squeezed into the small room to swill beer and dig the hot fuck action. Angel herself, all the way from New York, introduced the movie, then was swallowed up by the audience as her onscreen self swallowed up a sizeable schlong.

Post-screening, folks were treated to an educational performance by Reverend Al’s Art of Bleeding. Actually, choking prevention was the theme; a guy in an ape suit narrated a '70s educational slide show that exemplified the many styles of choking to death. Unless, of course, one knows the Heimlich Maneuver. A number of comely fetish nurses were on hand to demonstrate the helpful Maneuver on blow-up dolls. Good times were had, and, who knows, perhaps future lives will be saved.
