All Eyes on Johnnie Keyes to Star in Asia Noir 4

The long awaited return by Behind the Green Door legend and AVN Hall of Famer Johnnie Keyes is in the works for the upcoming Video Team feature Asia Noir 4. Production is scheduled to begin next week and phone lines are burning up as producer Mike Horner and director David Aaron Clark try to convince the adult living legend, Keyes, to make a comeback.

“There’s lots of treachery, lust and double-dealing – the men are all vying for power, and the women want the guy who’s going to come out on top,” Clark goes on to say, adding he’s excited to finally be directing one of his own scripts. The AVN Award winning writer has penned screenplays for respected directors like Michael (Underworld, Beast, and many more) Raven, who also just wrapped Delilah for Private and a host of other notable features. Clark also penned the much lauded Brad Armstrong vehicle Euphoria as well for Wicked Pictures.

“It’s all about having the right script actors and well, as long as they’re from this planet, the right girls to work with,” Keyes joked, adding, “HBO wants to do my life story, Playgirl is talking to me and I’m being offered film work in Europe these days, so the offer has to be just right,” he said. Keyes is anxious to get in front of the camera again, but with his singing career taking off in the Pacific Northwest, signing jazz and R&B, it’s the vehicle, the money and the right role that will make this a dealmaker. “Heck, I want to do this,” but after all these years, and I’m still looking good, so why not do it right.” Keyes laughed Keyes is set to play the godfather of a crew of black gangsters run by series leading man Mr. Marcus and Sean Michaels.

“How can I be anything but thrilled?” gushed series creator and director David Aaron Clark, who won the 2004 Best Ethnic Video – Asian AVN trophy this past January for Asia Noir 2: Asianatrix Rising.

Despite the uncertainty at this moment of Keyes appearing in a major comeback role in Asia Noir 4, the production stands to be one of the most anticipated releases in the Ethnic genre this coming year.

This latest addition to the series that features black men with Asian women brings back Asia Noir 2 star Lucy Lee; Korean diva Lacey Tom, who debuts in Clark’s upcoming Azn Super Idols 2, shipping Sept. 7th. Another fan favorite signed on is Lucy Thai, who Clark offers, plays “a female Kato, chauffeur and bodyguard to Mr. Marcus.”

“Finally, I have the chance to direct my own dialogue – though we’re on such tight deadlines, I’m pounding out the script practically as we speak,” said Clark.

“The comparisons to Kill Bill will be inevitable, but although I adore Quentin Tarentino.’s films, my inspiration is more the same Hong Kong and Japanese gangster movies that inspired him from Reservoir Dogs onward,” Clark doggedly insists.

Asia Noir 4 also features Clark regulars Maja Lee, Kylie Rey and Japanese actress Kammy, as well as Asia Noir stalwarts Sledge Hammer and Tyler Knight.

As he has done since the beginning of his contract with Video Team, Clark will be handling camera, editing and the musical score, as well as directing duties.
