MOSCOW—A survey conducted by Russian pollster Public Opinion Foundation finds that the number of Russians using the internet had increased by 22 percent in one year, to 42 million people.
The survey was conducted in mid-2009, but was released last week.
According to the Moscow Times, “Twenty-one percent of Russian adults, or 24 million people, now use the Internet on a daily basis. This figure is up 35 percent from the same period of 2008. The highest proportion of Internet users is in Moscow, where 60 percent of adults are online. Among the regions, the Northwest Federal District is the connectivity leader, with 48 percent of its residents online.”
