OAK BROOK, Ill.—You might as well get the fries, because you can no longer get your porn at the Golden Arches.
McDonald’s executives this week made the decision to restrict customers from using free wi-fi in their restaurants to access pornography. The announcement came after internet safety advocacy group Enough Is Enough lobbied the House of Ronald for more than two years to make the change.
McDonald’s joins a number of fast-food chains to block customers’ ability to view adult entertainment; others on the list include Subway and Chick-fil-A.
Enough Is Enough is headed by Donna Rice Hughes, who is better known as the former beauty pageant queen whose affair with Sen. Gary Hart ended his presidential bid. Since then, she got married and joined up with Enough Is Enough, a group that pledges to “make the internet safer for children and families” by spending quite a bit of time and money to bash the adult industry and creators of adult content.
But rest assured, not every nationwide chain has given in to pressure from the group: Seattle-based Starbucks has not issued any response to numerous requests from Enough Is Enough to filter wi-fi in their locations, in case you want to check out some girl-girl action with your grande latte.
