New Format for Internext a Success

LAS VEGAS - Though some attending Internext Las Vegas 2008 were apprehensive, almost all said they were pleased with the changes.

This year's event was moved to the Palms Casino and Resort, with business conducted each afternoon in Rain Nightclub. Seminars are conducted each morning, with the show floor opening up in the afternoon.

"At first I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but they've taken a big show and given it an intimate atmosphere," said Vegas Ken of The Best Porn. "It's really good."

Vegas Ken added he was impressed with the changes in seminars. This year, rather than a number of seminar tracks to choose from, each morning is dedicated to two seminars on specific topics.

"I can't remember the last time I saw so many people in a seminar," he said. "They are packed. I think cutting down the number and having topics that are interesting to all really helped to keep them from getting dilluted."

Harlan Yaffe, co-owner of PrideBucks, agreed the changes for this year's event were a success.

"It's nice to not get lost in a big ballroom somewhere," he said. "The changes have really added some excitement and everyone seems to really be enjoying themselves."

The change in venue allows for webmasters, affiliate programs owners, billing company representatives and more to conduct business in skybox suites and other areas of the club, while club music plays in the background. In addition to the routine meetings and introductions at any trade show, day two of Internext featured a special treat: the "Webmaster Party Mix," complete with a belly dancing show on the club's stage. The performance, which featured more than a half-dozen women in colorful costumes undulating across the stage, was presented by World Wide Content, Universal Pass Cash and Producer Cash.

Internext Las Vegas closes out Tuesday with the "Legal Landscape" seminar and "Piracy Roundtable." Other highlights of the day are expected to be the annual adult domain auction conducted by Moniker and the "Internext Farewell Party" featuring a performance by Everclear.
