Mattel Sues Adult Website Over Barbie Trademark

Toy maker Mattel Inc. has filed a lawsuit against an adult entertainer named China Barbie and her porn pay site, claiming the performer is trying to benefit from the name recognition of the Barbie manufacturer’s line of popular dolls.

China Barbie's website bills her as a "cordial young lady who sat behind the desks of some of the world's leading investment banking firms and advertising agencies in New York before getting into porn.”

China Barbie’s site is registered to Global China Networks and operated out of Hollywood, Fl.

Mattel claims that it has a registered trademark to protect the Barbie line and alleges that the creation of a website containing the name “Barbie” has damaged the corporation’s wholesome image. The company is ordering the transfer of the domain name and any profits achieved, be sent to the company, and asking for damages of up to $100,000.

China Barbie has appeared in such adult titles as Me Luv You Long Time, Ethnic Cheerleaders 8 and Passport to Paradise.

According to the company, its Barbie line of dolls — created in 1959 — has generated $1.6 billion in sales.
