Pure Romance CEO Gets Reality TV Series

CINCINNATI - Pure Romance founder and CEO Patty Brisben is the star of "Mother Knows Sex," a new TLC network reality series premiering Sunday, Feb. 1 at 10 p.m.

The one-hour show follows Brisben and her family, giving viewers a look inside the workings of the home-party and sex toy business.

Brisben entered the home party business after watching an episode of "Phil Donahue" while home on maternity leave. The episode featured a company that recruited women to adult sexual products through home parties. After checking with friends to see if they had ever heard of such a concept, she decided to purchase her own kit.

Through the years, Brisben educated herself not only on the products, but on sexuality, and when her employer shut its doors, she founded Pure Romance in 1993. The company has grown exponentially in recent years, and is now a multi-million dollar business with 80 full-time employees.

Brisben founded the Patty Brisben Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to raising money for and working with benefit causes that are directly related to women and sexual health. She is also the author of Pure Romance Between the Sheets, in which she answers questions from women about sex and sexuality.

Repeat airings of the series are scheduled to run in early February.
