Ex Porn Performer Runs For Swiss Assembly As Far-Right Extremist

Jasmin Maeder, who reportedly shot several Swiss porn films about a decade ago under the pseudonym “Cleopatra,” is now a candidate for the Swiss Federal Assembly, the national legislature, running on the ticket of the Swiss Nationalist Party, a group widely described as “neo-Nazi”—and which vehemently opposes porn, according to the Zurich-based newspaper Blick

Maeder’s titles include Perverse Spiele mit Teeny Cleopatra  or Perverted Games with Teen Cleopatra, as well as at least five others, according to a Sputnik News report. But Maeder now says that she was “naive” when she took part in the hardcore scenes, and does not believe that her brief career in porn will hurt her chances in the upcoming elections.

“Ultimately almost all adults consume porn,” she said, and the president of the Swiss Nationalist Party (PNOS) also says that despite the party’s hard line against porn, Maeder’s past will not be a concern.

"We already took into account that the films would sooner or later find their way to the public," said PNOS head Dominic Lüthard.

The upcoming elections for the National Council, the larger of the Assembly’s two houses, will be held on October 20, 2019. But if Maeder—who was appointed PNOS party chair in 2017 at the age of 27—somehow wins, she will be the first member of the right-wing extremist party to take a seat in the 200-member governing body.

Until she became the party leader, Maeder was unknown to the Swiss public, according to the online magazine Ajour

“On the Internet, she reveals herself only on various dating platforms and with the ‘liked’ videos on her Youtube channel, which include various documentary films about Adolf Hitler,” the left-wing magazine wrote.

Maeder also has a Facebook page on which her introductory message to visitors is, “Mein Leben für das Vaterland,” or “My Life for the Fatherland.”

“I am standing for the National Council elections,” she wrote (in German) in a Facebook post announcing her candidacy on February 4. “You finally have an opportunity in hand to change things. You know my opinions and my attitude. That’s all we can do. I count on you.”

The party motto, “Volksgemeinschaft statt Klassenkampf,” which translates loosely as “National Unity, Not Class Struggle,” was described as “a fascist slogan” by Ajour. In addition to its hard line stance against “drugs and pornography,” the PNOS also takes a hard line against immigration, similar to the views of Donald Trump in the United States.

“With us in Switzerland, anyone can get in and out as it suits him," said another top PNOS leader, Raphael Rotzer, as quoted by Ajour. ”Whether Islamist, terrorist, dictator, war criminal, murderer, dealer, rapist. The door and gate are open to anyone."
