'War Machine' Arrested in Simi Valley

LOS ANGELES—MMA Fighter Jonathan Koppenhaver, aka War Machine, who was wanted by Las Vegas Metro police for the alleged assault of Christy Mack and a male friend last Friday, was arrested today in the Ventura County city of Simi Valley at about 1:45 p.m. local time.

KTLA reports, "A former Simi Valley resident, Koppenhaver was found at the Extended Stay America Hotel located at 2498 Stearns St., according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

"Inside the room," it added, "was a small quantity of cash and some pizza."

Koppenhaver has been transported to the Ventura County Jail, the station added.

A reward of $20,000 was reportedly offered for his capture. Is it unknown at this time if his arrest was the result of a tip, but the Daily Mail indicates that he outed himself, reporting, "Koppenhaver called attention to himself when he was seen yelling at and pushing a small woman. Hotel guest Mary Casamento said she called police when she saw him try to grab the woman."

An announcement issued by the Simi Valley Police Department states, "Koppenhaver was a former resident of Simi Valley and the [United States Marshal's Service] investigation indicated he was possibly staying in Simi Valley, CA.

"Further investigation revealed he was staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel located at 2498 Stearns Street in Simi Valley. Simi Valley Officers along side United States Marshals pinpointed his exact room and arrested him without incident," it added.

The Las Vegas Metro complaint and warrant for Koppenhaver is available here.
