Trueman Weighs in on Hirsch's Recommendations to GOP Leaders

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The following statement horseshit was sent to Morality in Media supporters this afternoon:

"Morality in Media president Patrick A. Trueman comments on a statement today by hardcore pornographer Steven Hirsch of Vivid Video cautioning the Republican Party to 'lower the rhetoric' against illegal pornography:

"Neither Republicans nor Democrats should be taking advice from a man whose business is sexually exploiting young girls for profit. Hirsch, producer of such hardcore porn films as Adventures in Babysitting and Savanna's Anal Gang Bang, advised Republicans 'to catch up with what's happening in America and the world today.' Perhaps that’s just what is concerning Republicans.

"America is suffering an untreated pandemic of harm from pornography. According to many studies, children and adults are developing life-long addictions to pornography; American children begin consuming hardcore pornography at an average age of 11 and act out what they see on siblings, neighbors, and friends; four out of five 16 year-olds regularly access pornography online; growing numbers of men in their twenties are developing 'porn-induced sexual dysfunction'; girls consuming pornography are several times more likely to engage in group sex than those who do not; 56% of divorces now cite Internet pornography as a factor in the breakup of the marriage. More on harm can be found at PornHarmsResearch.com.

"Steven Hirsch bears much of the responsibility for pornography's harm and no respectable politician should take his advice."

**

And lest it be forgotten, former Justice Department prosecutor Patrick Trueman bears much of the responsibility for violating adult content producers' constitutional rights by having been part of a DOJ unit that branded constitutionally protected expression as "illegal pornography," and by attempting to shame the tens of millions of adults, including many married couples, who regularly enjoy porn in the privacy of their own homes by throwing around bogus statistics that are based on biased surveys, failed and faulty "research," bogus claims of psychological damage, and for using isolated incidents of disturbed people (including kids) acting out as some sort of touchstone that all who watch porn will behave similarly.

But on the other hand, it's nice to know that Trueman and some of his minions actually read AVN.com.
