CLEVELAND—The last piece of confetti has fallen at Quicken Loan Arena in BelieveLand and the Republican National Convention has come to a close. But has the last dollar for escorts in the greater Cleveland area been spent yet?
According to tabloid newspaper New York Post, escorts did very well during the RNC. But that was to be expected, right? Every year stories are written about the anticipated increase in prostitution in major cities hosting everything from the World Series to the Super Bowl and the Olympics.
What might be surprising to some (but not to media observers here at AVN) is the type of escorts who did well during the three-day convention: gay male escorts.
“Business has been way better. I’ve seen 10 clients so far,” one male escort told the newspaper.
Reporters for the paper contacted several escorts in the Cleveland area and found the gay male escorts were raking in the cash—sometimes as much as six times the amounts they normally make—and much of their businesses was coming from married white men, many of them between the ages of 40 and 50.
“Most of them were first-timers. You could tell they were nervous, but once they became more comfortable, they seemed to be having a good time,” an escort told reporters.
But, the Post reported, their female counterparts didn’t reap the rewards of having thousands of new visitors in their fair city.
“Has business been better for me? Honestly, no,” one woman told the Post before hanging up.
The Daily Dot website also reported that the “Men Seeking Men” section of Craigslist in the Cleveland area also saw a major uptick during the convention. Some of the juicier posts? “RNC bitch for black dicks—u don't have to vote, you need to fuck me (m4m),” “Son Seeks Dad at RNC (m4m)” and “RNC TOPS—Seed a Democrat (m4m).”
