Calif. City Drops Case Against Diamond Adult World

GROVER BEACH, Calif.— The Grover Beach City Council has decided to drop its long-running legal battle against a downtown sex shop rather than appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. According to a recent report, council members decided in a closed session Monday night to end efforts to close the Diamond Adult World store.

“Since there is no constitutional issue associated with this case, it is unlikely review would be granted by the court,” the city said in a statement.

Diamond Adult World owner Steve Diamond told the Associate Press that he was pleased with the city’s decision to drop the case.

Last month, an appellate court in San Francisco ruled to reverse a trial court's previous ruling and allow Diamond to continue to operate his store, effectively grandfathering Diamond Adult World in. A city ordinance now bans adult businesses from opening up their doors in downtown Grover Beach.
