Big Brother Finds Porn on Laptop of Conservative British Pol

BOURNEMOUTH, U.K.—The headline of the Daily Echo makes the point quite succinctly: Bournemouth Council Leader in Porn Shock. Egads! What possible crime can the bloke have committed that inspired not only the local paper but also the BBC to report on the matter, not to mention the council elders who launched an investigation?

The BBC reveals: “Adult material was found on the laptop of [Stephen MacLoughlin], the leader of Bournemouth Borough Council, it has emerged. The council launched an investigation after the routine service revealed ‘top shelf’ adult material.”

At least the chap has taste. The “top shelf” porn was found last year during routine maintenance of the council-provided machine. The investigation resulted in the following statement:

“The limited amount of ‘top shelf’ adult material, which was found during a routine service in December 2008, contravened the council’s Internet Policy. Councillor MacLoughlin fully co-operated with the investigation which was undertaken by the council’s chief executive, Pam Donnellan, and the service director for law and governance, Joy Postings.

“Councillor MacLoughlin confirmed that the computer had been used to access a website which was not related to the business of the council. This occurred outside normal council office hours and not on council premises.

“The investigation earlier this year was satisfactorily concluded with Councillor MacLoughlin’s confirmation that the council’s Internet Policy would be complied with in future.”

Good for him! Good for them! Porn has no place on a conservative politician’s computer. Next time, he should behave properly and take his business into the loo, like everyone else.
