AVN’s Mark Kernes to Provide Daily Stagliano Trial Updates

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Veteran adult industry legal reporter Mark Kernes will be attending John Stagliano’s upcoming trial on obscenity charges and will be filing daily updates on AVN.com.

Evil Angel owner Stagliano’s trial is expected to last two weeks and begins tomorrow with jury selection in Washington, D.C.

Kernes, known as the dean of adult industry legal reporters, has been covering the adult entertainment industry since AVN’s fourth issue in May 1983. Prior to joining AVN he was a court reporter for 19 years in the Philadelphia and Media, Pa. areas.

Kernes has covered scores of legal issues as they have affected the adult entertainment industry, including obscenity, zoning laws, porn tax bills, free speech issues, performer safety, 2257 and many others.

Daily updates from Stagliano’s trial are expected to post in the late afternoon or early evening on days when court is in session.

Stagliano and his companies, Evil Angel Productions and John Stagliano Inc., are charged with seven counts of illegal possession, distribution and the sale of two adult videos sent through the mail, Milk Nymphos 5 and Storm Squirters 2—and the internet trailer of a third video, Fetish Fanatic 5.

Stagliano faces a maximum of 32 years in jail and $7 million in fines if convicted on all counts.
