Modern Marvel: Interview With Adult Superhero Austin Wolf

Austin Wolf usually doesn’t have a reason to be jealous. He’s a pretty secure and confident guy. But when a friend who works at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore sent him some photos, he felt the emotion stirring within him.

“All the guys from The Avengers came to the hotel, and he got pictures with Iron Man and Thor—the actual actors involved. Super cool, I was very jealous,” he says—and you can tell he means it. “I’d love to get a picture with the guy that plays Thor.”

He’s gotten close—sort of. Wolf has been on the battlefield before with the brother of Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

“Funny enough, I used to play football with his little brother at the gay leagues here in New York. I did the flag football league for a number of years, and I think I was a little too aggressive for their tastes. They didn’t ask me not to come back or anything, but I kind of got the feeling that everyone was there for a little bit more fun than I was,” Wolf laughs. “So, I decided I would stop.”

You’ll have to forgive the man for his competitive spirit.

“That’s the bad part. I grew up playing that sport, and something kind of changes the second that whistle is blown. I start acting like a different person. I’m certainly not nice, that’s for sure. And a lot of my friends were like, ‘That’s the first and last game I’m coming to. I never want to see you act like that again!’” Wolf recalls. “I had a great time for sure, but I kept coming out with like broken fingers and bruises all over my body. Randy Blue was actually the one who asked me to stop playing.”

Given his stature, Wolf can’t help it. Even if he isn’t trying, he knows he can come across as intimidating. At a very muscular 6-foot-4, he commands attention even if he doesn’t want to.

“Before I met Austin, I was not familiar with his porn. I knew who he was, but I didn’t have any expectations,” shares performer Diego Grant. “After I set up the first appointment with him, I started looking for some of his videos and all of his studio porn, because before doing this, I wasn’t really into porn that much. I was scared, because he’s 6-4 ... he’s like Superman! But when I got there, I was very surprised how well it went and how humble he was.”

When interviewed, Wolf knew his exact weight that day: 257 pounds. It comes with the territory when fitness is crucial to your career.

“Walking down the street is easy. People move out of your way. Riding on an airplane is hard. So, it’s got good points and bad points. I can’t say that in my day-to-day life it makes a huge difference, but I would say in my professional life, I’m pretty sure it’s made all the difference. Any time you’re an ‘extreme’ in the adult world, it’s a good thing. I mean, look at Armond Rizzo—he’s on the exact opposite spectrum of where I am. I feel like as long as you’re not on the quote-unquote ‘average’ side of things, you definitely have your foot in the door a little farther,” he says. “On a certain level, I’m definitely genetically gifted. But at the same time, it’s all about not being too consistent with the bad eating.”

Wolf is certain his size also made a difference during his previous life in sales.

“Being so tall and wearing a suit every day, that had to have made a difference, I would imagine. Being 6-4, there is definitely a call to attention. And then of course you throw on a little weight, and that really brings all the boys to the yard, I guess.”

And Wolf would prefer to put weight on rather than sweat it off. He hates cardio—he’s so heavy that it hurts his knees and ankles.

“And I don’t do yoga. I’m not a yoga type of person. I lift weights. I love lifting weights. My hated and most favorite day at the exact same time is probably leg day. The guy that I work out with is by far the best trainer on the East Coast. He’s unbelievable. And when I come home from doing legs with Leo … it’s like, the day before yesterday I did legs, I had to take two naps. He pushes you to a point that you didn’t even know your body could get to. I guess I like all of it, though. Anytime I’m put into that position of being pushed to that limit, I totally dig it.”

Which is why Wolf works out almost every day.

“I have to film content, I have to post on a regular basis, I have to do social media—and on top of all that, I have to look good while doing it, because people don’t watch me because of my charming personality. I know why they watch me, and I’m perfectly okay with that. But luckily for me, it’s a passion. I’m there all the time, I have a trainer five of those seven days. I could say that I’m probably a lot better with my diet, but whenever you’re just in a sit position like I am right now, it’s so hard to eat right because you’re just doing so much.”

He’s also sitting when he indulges in another of his favorite pastimes.

“I really love going to see films as often as possible. I also just installed a projector and 160-inch screen into my apartment in New York. I love fantasy, sci-fi. My partner and I are huge Harry Potter fans, X-Men, Marvel … the whole thing. We go pretty crazy over stuff like that.”

There’s that superhero connection again. So, what’s this iron man’s origin story?

Be Kind
When he was 15 years old, Wolf got a job at a Blockbuster Video—working for the first time in his life for a boss who wasn’t his father.

“I remember I was working for him for at least two years before I heard someone making a joke on a shift, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And they said, ‘You know Roger’s gay?’ And I’m like, ‘No he’s not.’ I was always so worried about hiding my sexuality, I never really thought about other people’s sexuality, so it’s not something that ever really came to my mind.”

By this time Wolf was nearly 18, and the experience proved to have a powerful impact on him.

“The only way I can really describe Roger is that he’s probably the happiest guy you’ve ever met. He’s just always very positive, he's always cracking jokes, and I’ve always just had a really good time working with him. At first, I was uncomfortable that he was gay, just became you start to worry about if someone is going to find out that you’re gay. And you don’t want things like that to happen.”

But then one day at work as he was observing his boss, everything changed.

“It just hit me: This man is gay and happy at the same time. Why can’t I be? And it was the first time in my life that I realized that; I never thought that would have been a possibility. So that was kind of the moment where I think everything started to spin out of control—you know how it does whenever we’re young and the world is ending, and everything is moving so fast. And then of course you end up telling your mother you’re gay, and soon [tell] your aunts and your uncles you’re gay. And it was all due to literally one man just being who he was, which I thought that was kind of cool.”

Wolf notes that his family has been there for him not only through that time, but his entire life.

“No matter what I’ve done, I’ve always been supported by everyone in my family, especially my mother. My mom is all about everything I do. She knows what I do—I told her before I even started. I grew up in a small town outside of Fort Worth, and I would say you grew up hearing a lot of racial slurs, a lot of sexist slurs and that kind of thing. But the funny thing about my family is, the second they found out I was gay, you’d be surprised how much of it instantly stopped. So that’s the kind of people I guess I grew up with. I played a lot of football in high school, Ieft for New York when I was 20, and never really thought I was leaving for good. I did. I got here and I never really looked back.”

As for his accent? It’s mostly back in Texas, too.

“Whenever I get nervous or excited it really starts to come out, or if I just got off the phone with my sister, something along those lines. My partner now of four years thinks it’s funny whenever we travel back there, because 10 minutes into a conversation with anyone, the tonality of my voice completely changes,” Wolf laughs. “And I swear to you, I’m not controlling it—it just happens. And he has to actually tell me, otherwise I don’t even notice.”

Wolf started dating someone very young, almost secretively, and they ended up being together for almost 13 years. They moved to New York together from Texas.

“He was in college at TCU at the time, and I was still working at Blockbuster Video, which is where we met. We had a monogamous relationship for seven, eight years. I’m not sure we ever overtly decided to open our relationship up, it just happened naturally and organically. So I was 24, 25 before I had ever even fooled around with more than two men. I kind of started late.”

Wolf isn’t quite sure what the specific draw of New York was at the time, but he remembers it felt right.

“I felt that with my quote-unquote ‘new sexuality,’ which I had only for a short period of time, I wanted to try something new. I literally was just coming out here for a week. That was the plan. I just remember getting off the plane coming here, and stepping out of the cab somewhere in the mid-30s on the east side, and just knowing instantaneously that I was home. And I never went back, and of course my mother’s been angry ever since,” he says with a laugh. “It’s definitely not something I had to give a ton of thought to, that’s for sure.”

Wolf was selling high-end furniture in 2008—when the mortgage crisis changed everything.

“Whenever you’re selling high-end furniture and no one is buying or selling apartments, they’re certainly not buying $30, $40, $50,000 sofas. So, sadly, a job that I really, really liked and I was extremely good at—and I made a ton of money doing—I kind of lost overnight, because every customer you had disappeared.”

His commission plummeted “from making almost $600,000 a year to making $50,000 in the blink of an eye.” With financial obligations, he left and started bartending.

“Believe it or not, it was a really good gig. I made a lot of money bartending. I worked at Splash here in New York before it closed, and a couple of other good places. But when it really came down to it, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the bar owners that I had worked for. Most of these people didn’t really care about the business; it was more of the social aspect for them. Even with my (4my.fans) business now, I run a business. I’m here to be nice to everyone, but to a point that it makes sense for the business, you know what I mean? And these guys didn’t run things that way, and it just drove me nuts. I ended up quitting my first job ever without having another job. I had never done that before. So yet again, I had financial obligations—rent had to be paid.”

So Wolf made a major decision that would impact the rest of his life: He put up an ad on Rentboy.

A Star is Born
“A lot of my friends had done it, so it’s not something that I was shameful of doing. But I of course told myself, ‘I’ll do this until I get a new job.’ My first client was amazing; it went extremely well. And frankly, I think I was hooked at that very moment. It was so much money for such a short little period of time, and I really enjoyed myself. I had a great time, I made someone else very happy, and at the same time I’m able to pay my bills. I had found essentially my calling as far as I was concerned.”

And with that came other opportunities. Wolf started getting calls from recruiters who found his profile, including one who turned him on to Randy Blue.

“They were offering me $4,000 for a solo in front of the camera. And this is seven years ago; $4,000 is a lot of money even right now. So yeah … I said yes,” Wolf laughs. “And of course, that’s the hook—that’s what they do. You get in and they give you that check, and if you want more you have to do X, Y and Z, right? It took me a little while, but probably a month later, I called them and told them that I was on board. So two months into putting up a Rentboy ad, Austin Wolf was born.”

The next thing he knew, Wolf was making videos—and the fans noticed.

“I never anticipated the amount of popularity that came from it. I didn’t really think that I would be anybody. I went into it thinking, ‘I want another $4,000 check,’” he says with a laugh. “But then you started Twitter, and after that, even to this day—I just posted a video yesterday—and my fans are amazing. Diehard and loyal, and they have been from day one.”

Wolf’s main memories from his Randy Blue experience were “fucking a lot of straight boys. It was really interesting. I never had an issue. I’m not exactly a shy person—I’m not sure where I left that, but I’m pretty sure it was in Texas somewhere. I never really had an issue with anything on camera. The people at Randy at the time were just awesome. They always made me feel extremely comfortable, and any time there was an awkward moment, we would all joke about it and then get back to work. It was always extremely pleasant. And it was a shame whenever I had to leave.”

Wolf made that decision when he discovered the studio was veering into bareback content.

“This was maybe close to four or five years ago now. I had signed up through a third party, and sadly, whenever I called and asked about it, she answered that, ‘Yes, that is the direction we’re going. I have to take this phone call, can I call you right back?’ And I never got a call back,” Wolf laughs. “They never called me back.”

Within his first year of filming, Wolf had met two big names at Falcon Studios Group: Senior Director of Production Adam Q. Robinson and director Steve Cruz.

“I had talked to Steve about doing videos for Falcon, and I said, ‘I apologize, I’m an exclusive with Randy Blue, but if that ever changes, you’ll be the first person I call.’ So I kept my promise. I waited two days, and I emailed Adam, who answered me within I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 46 seconds. And within 17 minutes, I had a contract. Literally within 17 minutes of sending that email, they had a contract sent over to me, signed and sent back. And then I found the home that I am in now, which I am very happy with.”

Wolf started working with the company in 2015, quickly getting cast in films for the Hot House, Raging Stallion and Falcon.

“Smooth and easy man. They make things very simple and very seamless. I’ve never once had a problem on any level. I’ve always been extremely happy. They’re a really great studio, they’ve been supportive of my fan account stuff, they never told me there was something I can’t do. They’re very supportive of their models, from my standpoint. I hope to be working for them until I stop doing videos, that’s for sure.”

Wolf has appeared in some 30 features and counting for the studio group, most recently in NakedSword’s Rags to Riches, Falcon’s Buddy System and Raging Stallion’s Rideshare, in which a threesome with Pheonix Fellington and Kurtis Wolfe earned them a GayVN Award nomination.

“My first impression of Austin was that he’s rather tall. Huge. His kind and engaging personality comes through right away. Even at the first meeting, he was intelligent, self-assured, but not too cocky. A businessman. He had my respect day one,” says Cruz. “He always gives a star-quality performance. He’s dedicated to giving great scene. Personally and professionally, he’s an asset to the studio and our lives. I consider him a friend.”

And for those who may not be aware, Cruz shares that Wolf has very intense orgasms.

“It’s perhaps the most peculiar thing I’ve seen sexually anywhere. It would make most men jealous to know what most of us call an orgasm is like a dip in the shallow end of the pool by comparison. You can’t touch him or talk to him until it passes. He becomes very sensitive. All that carrying on in every scene is real. I tried—at my own risk—to push the envelope when he was in that state in the threeway we shot for Rideshare. I find it kind of adorable that for about five to 10 minutes, this hulk of a man is almost helpless to the intensity of his own pleasure. It’s overwhelming.”

Cruz isn’t the only director who sings his praises. Chi Chi LaRue has enjoyed his experience with Wolf in Hot House’s One Night at the Ready.

“I had the pleasure of directing him a couple of times. He’s great to direct. He loves his nipples. I do a little joke where if you watch him on his OnlyFans, he starts to do his thing—and I say, ‘And any minute now, his hands will start to go up his body right to his nipples.’ And, never fails! He’s an amazing performer that you know you’re going to get a great scene out of. He’s another mountain of a man. He’s very much like someone’s sexy dad. Like, ‘Hello Mr. Wolf, I’m supposed to go out with your daughter,’” says LaRue before responding in a deep, burly voice, “‘Well get in here, boy, and fuck me first!’

Family Ties
Wolf wouldn’t be where he was today without the support of his loved ones.

“They’re great. My mother is chomping at the bit. She wants to quit her job and come work for me, and that will be something that actually happens when (4my.fans) starts moving and grooving a little bit more—when it comes to taking information and answering questions, I’ll stop doing it and she’ll probably be the person I hire to answer all those questions and take all that information from all the models and make sure everybody’s happy … she enjoys that kind of work and she enjoys people.

“My sister’s awesome, and I have another sister that came to visit for the Fourth of July and brought her kids. She’s my older sister, and I told her what I do for a living months ago, and that wasn’t an easy phone call. She’s kind of religious, and I just felt there was a certain level of honesty that should be given to someone that’s coming into your home—not that what I do impacted their visit, because it didn’t. That’s my father talking, I think—giving people the information before somebody else does is all.”

Wolf says he has been more open about his life to his mother’s side of the family because he sees them so often. His father’s side? Not as much.

“I only saw them a few times a year. I only talk to them every once in a while, as compared to like my sister, who I talk to four or five a time a week. My older sister, I’d only talk to her maybe two or three times a year. She’s got kids and she’s a doctor. She’s a busy lady and I’m a busy guy. I live in New York—it just didn’t happen as much. But now, we’re all getting a little bit older, and I feel like the communication has grown a little bit. We talk more than we used to. I called her before her visit and the conversation was probably the easiest it ever has been for us—especially compared to a few years ago, where I felt like it was pulling teeth just because we didn’t know anything about one another. It may sound silly, but I feel like it was because I told her the truth. And to a point, maybe she knew she was being lied to for a long time—maybe I hadn’t been a bartender for the last seven years, you know what I mean? I think that that made kind of a big difference.”

And his mom remains his rock.

“Most people have to hide all this kind of stuff. If I told my mother I was straight today, she’d be upset. That’s how supportive she really is. She just has all these rules that I have to give her: She’s only allowed on Instagram and Facebook. No Twitter, no Tumblr. She’s not allowed to go on the internet and search for ‘Austin Wolf.’ She’s definitely got rules that she has to stick to,” Wolf laughs. “Honesty, I don’t think she has a ton of interest in looking it up.”

But the GayVN Award that Wolf received in January 2018 for Best Fetish Scene (for Hot House’s Skuff: Rough Trade 1 with Micah Brandt) didn’t help tame her enthusiasm.

“She loses her mind over stuff like that. She just thinks it’s the greatest thing in the world. And you know, she’s not like, ‘Oh, congratulations, honey.’ No, no … she wants a photo of it, she wants a photo of it with me, she wants to see it in the light, she wants to see it in the dark. She’s not pretending to be supportive; she is excitingly supportive, and that has meant everything. I think that is a huge reason why I’ve been able to be successful at everything I do in this industry, because you have people like that get excited for you. It just makes all the difference in the world.”

The award also meant a lot to Wolf, who notes he was bummed he wasn’t in attendance last year due to a pre-scheduled vacation.

“If I had known about the awards, I wouldn’t have scheduled the cruise. I made sure that I did that proper this year. I found out that I had gotten it and I did a Twitter acceptance speech and thank you to the GayVNs; I’ve been in this industry for seven years making videos the entire time, and I had never won an award until that day. I’ve been nominated for various awards like 18 times, every single year for God knows what ... then of course the GayVNs were gone for eight years, and they come back and give it to me right off the bat. So needless to say, I was extremely happy. It came out of the blue, and I didn’t see that award coming at all. I have to admit I was pretty stoked.”

So was Brandt, who came three times during the memorable encounter.

“It was crazy! One of my proudest moments ever,” Wolf recalls of the feat. “I love Micah to death, and Nick Foxx, who directed the scene, is one of my good friends and buddies. You just couldn’t have added up a better scenario for an award. I was extremely happy.”

Back to Business
Last spring, Wolf expanded his horizons by launching 4my.fans—a fan-page site that he not only operates, but appears on. It grew from his desire to offer what he sees as a better alternative to sites like OnlyFans (which he still uses as well). The venture has kept him busy on both sides of the camera.

One of the models featured on the service is Grant (Fulltimepapi), who met Wolf last February.

“I decided to start doing amateur porn, and I decided for Austin to be my very first sex scene. I sought him out, and we planned a weekend for me to go over to his place. I thought it was going to just be work and that’s about it, but we became really good friends. We really clicked that weekend, and since then I’ve seen him almost every month and we hang out a lot. He’s been great. He’s really good at what he does, and I couldn’t think of a better person to start doing this with,” Grant says.

The two have filmed more than 20 scenes together so far, and performed live together as well.

“People always seem to like our videos when we perform together. It’s always crazy. I can’t just be quiet,” Grant says with a laugh. “We did one in a fitting room at a Target. We’ve been doing a lot of different places in public, and people like that. He’s the only one I do that with. We both like public; for us it’s kind of like a turn-on. We really have fun doing it, and I think that’s why the videos come out the way they do.”

Grant says Wolf is just as amazing with talent behind the scenes as he is when the camera is rolling.

“He’s very confident, and he’s very sweet, too. He makes you feel comfortable and that you’re okay. There are multiple cameras around you, and some people don’t feel that comfortable with that, so he always makes sure that you are in a good place at the moment. I think that’s what makes him very popular, and people want to film with him … he’s not rude or anything like that.

“People think that Austin thinks of himself as if he’s this big thing, and he’s not like that. He’s very humble and he’s down to earth, and he doesn’t think of himself as this big porn star. He doesn’t even talk about that. He’s very grateful for the support he gets from his fans, and he’s constantly saying that—to me, to his partner, to all of his friends. Sometimes he doesn’t even believe that it’s happening. I think that’s one of the great things about him…it’s one of the things I’ve always liked about him.”

And Grant isn’t the only one who feels that way.

“I know he’s exclusive with Falcon, but I really want to find a way to work with Austin Wolf. I really hope so,” shares CockyBoy Carter Dane. “I need to figure out a way. I met him, and he’s one of the reasons why I started porn. After I had applied on a website model application, I went to New York and I didn’t notice who he was—he seemed familiar, but you know you can’t pinpoint right away where you know someone from? So we met and he was such a sweetheart. He told me about porn and answered a lot of questions I had, and made me more confident about starting. So I’d definitely like to shoot with him.”

Wolf’s increased workload has given him less free time—but more purpose and motivation.

“I don’t see a light at the end of that quitting tunnel just yet. I think I’ve got at least a good four or five years before that happens. One thing I did do is I stopped escorting. That was over a year ago that I took down my ad,” he says. “Once OnlyFans started doing well for me, I decided I’d raise my rates and just take less clients, and then, I don’t know … I’m in this relationship with someone who’s not in the adult world on a professional level, and I just think to myself, what would I want if I were in his shoes? So, one step at a time. I’m doing the fan stuff now, I’m doing the studio stuff, but maybe if I get rid of one aspect, that will make our lives that much easier.”

Life has also been easier for Wolf since he took control of his addictions (including a sex addiction he discussed in a revealing 2014 interview with Adam Baran for TheSword.com).

“Being sober for as long as I have, it’s almost an afterthought now. I don’t ever even think about drugs and alcohol; it’s not really even a thought anymore. It’s definitely interesting being in this industry and being sober; there’s not very many of us, that’s for sure. It’s a small little group, but there are more than you would think. It’s done nothing but benefit me.”

But Wolf notes it’s getting harder in this day and age for performers who struggle with it.

“Drugs and alcohol in this industry, especially now with the age that we’re in with the fan content, you don’t always have a studio telling you what to do. If you don’t keep your eye on the ball, you’re not going to make the content that you need to make and you’re not going to post when you need to post—and so you’re not going to make the fans happy, therefore they’re not going to subscribe to your page. I think being sober is a huge advantage in the industry … I’m very thankful that I got sober when I did and that I’m able to control that aspect of my life, because I certainly wouldn’t have everything I have now without it.”
