Michael Stabile's Documentary 'Seed Money' Coming to DVD & VOD

PHILADELPHIA, PABreaking Glass Pictures will release the Falcon Studios documentary Seed Money on DVD and video-on-demand (VOD) in October. The film, which the e-zine Queerty described as "salacious, poignant, and inspiring," is the story of Falcon founder Chuck Holmes, and follows his rise to fame in the gay community, his influence on politicians like Bill Clinton, and his ultimate, tragic end. The movie will hit the streets and the Web on October 4, 2016.

Seed Money premiered at FilmOut San Diego where it was nominated for Best Documentary. It went on to screen at over 40 festivals worldwide, including the Cleveland International Film Festival, where it was again nominated for Best Documentary.

"Director Mike Stabile has crafted a loving homage to the legendary Falcon Studios and the man, Chuck Holmes, who created the Empire," said Breaking Glass' Co-President Richard Ross. "This is a fitting tribute to a bygone era, and the beginning of the most recognizable brand in gay adult films."

AVN reviewed Seed Money when it was shown in Los Angeles during Outfest in July of 2015, and spoke with its creator, Michael Stabile, about both the film and Holmes himself.

Describing Holmes, who began his movie career in 1971, as "an Indiana farmboy, but he had a head for business," Stabile noted that Holmes had been dissatisfied with the gay films available at the time.

"Chuck looked around, saw that it was a bunch of hippies running around shooting films vaguely illegally; said, 'I think I can do it better'; borrowed some money, bought a mailing list and he was off and running," Stabile summarized.

When Seed Money comes to digital on October 4, it will be available on  iTunes, Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu, and VOD through local cable and satellite providers.
