Mickey's Quickies | Dean Monroe is Back and Buff, Outfest Talks Porn, More Gay Gossip

How wonderful that grand dame Chi Chi LaRue has coaxed Dean Monroe (pictured) into doing movies again. After a long absence from the screen, Dean has been persuaded by the fabulous LaRue to get back where he belongs, naked and fucking in front of the camera. He did make his way into music, and his single “Closer to You” was chosen to provide part of the soundtrack for the gay thriller Seeing Heaven, which debuted at QFest in Philadelphia.

Dean is worried about his return to porn, according to a recent post on his blog.

“Six years ago Falcon Studios invited me to travel to Los Angeles for a part in Kept, directed by Chi Chi Larue. … Boy, it seems such a long time ago and so much has changed. And now, after almost three years away, I’m off again to shoot a new film in L.A. It’s both exciting and a little nerve-wracking. Have I still got what it takes?”

You can see by the photos on his blog that he still does!

In 2002, Asian stud Peter Le became popular through photo spreads in the now-defunct Freshmen magazine. The features helped him develop a following for his popular website, PeterFever.com. Now, Le is delving into reality TV with a role in the pilot for a decidedly more gay Asian version of Jersey Shore. Keep an eye out for K-Town. The pilot was shot in Los Angeles last week but has yet to be picked up.

Erotic stories got some major nods at Outfest this past Monday. Two of the big award-winners were BearCity (about big burly bear men and their sexual encounters) and A Marine Story (about the U.S. military’s ban on gay and bisexual men).

During an Outfest panel called “Being Out in Hollywood,” panelists including public relations guy Howard Bragman, actress Meredith Baxter, director Don Roos, and actors Doug Spearman and Jonathan Slavin concluded that although most contemporary movies are made for a youthful audience and young people are unfazed by sexual orientation, sexual orientation still keeps a lot of out actors from working. The brave guys in the porn world, who already have let it all hang out, are groundbreakers in that arena.

“The world has changed, and Hollywood needs to catch up,” Bragman said.

What a delight to find the interview I did with the Visconti triplets during the 2009 GAYVN Awards celebration is finally online. The team escorting the guys on their first U.S. tour filmed the interview. You can see from the footage that it’s rather unnerving to be surrounded by three identical carbon copies who all look so very sexy.
