Link V: The Evolution Release Party

LOS ANGELES - The Faultline bar in Silver Lake was host to over 100 who turned out for the Link V: The Evolution DVD release party Saturday Sept. 22. Attendees included industry veterans Jim Steel and Sharon Kane, along with Channel 1 employees and fellow industry members Chris Steele from Jet Set Men, JC Adams, director John Bruno, and Brandon Baker from RentBoy.

Before opening its doors to the public at 9 p.m., Channel 1 Releasing owner and Link director Chi Chi LaRue held an invitation-only party, which he referred to as a great success. Guests were treated to a glimpse of the movie while LaRue spun sexy rock and roll music throughout the night.

"It stayed rocking until 2 in the morning," LaRue said. "There was some stuff happening onstage that got a little crazy. At one point a drag queen from Fresno did a flogging performance with Cole [Ryder] that was fabulous. It was totally impromptu and wasn't planned. It was a great Silver Lake night."

LaRue went on to share how grateful she is to the members of the community who turned out to mix and mingle with the industry folk and stars from the movie - including Tyler Saint, Bo Matthews, Cole Ryder, Steve Cruz, and Blake Riley - and to celebrate the release of part five in the Link series.

With a cast of over 30 stars, an original music score by LaRue's straight nephew Red Shag, eight full scenes, and a runtime of approximately six hours, Link: The Evolution is LaRue's biggest movie to date.

"People just don't do release parties anymore, and when you can do something like this and the gay adult industry responds to hang out with people from other studios, reviewers, and fans, it's amazing," LaRue continued. "Celebrating the ability to do a big movie like this in these days when DVD sales are down is great. It took a lot of people for this movie to happen. I couldn't have done it by myself."

Rascal Video exclusive Cole Ryder shared a little insight into the making of the film with GAYVN magazine.

"It was a tough shoot that started early in the morning and went on long after dark," he said. "We were shooting in an old meat-packing warehouse in downtown. The whole vibe was eerie, creepy, very Freddy Krueger. I'd take a bathroom break and wonder if something was going to pop out and get me on the way."

LaRue's best-selling title of 2007, Link V: The Evolution is in stores now in both extended and single-disc formats. The Director's Cut with bonus watersports and fisting content is available on Channel1Releasing.com and TLAReleasing.com and will be released on VOD October 11.
