Company Profile: Zaye Entertainment

In its first full year making gay films, Zaye Entertainment continued to catch the industry's eye and even signed its own exclusive, Matthew, star of Matthew's Got a Secret.

"It's not easy sometimes for a straight company to cross over into gay," notes producer/director/everyman Richie Zaye. "Sometimes the gay market doesn't perceive it too well, but to my surprise it's done quite well. It feels good, and I think part of it is just putting out good product, having good box covers and developing a good product line."

The bread and butter for Zaye has been the successful Knob Squad oral series, with a new one scheduled every three months. Zaye has handed over directing duties to Damian Ford, star of the studio's first feature (the well-received Damian Ford in Hawaii).

The soon-to-be released Damian Ford in Argentina had Zaye excited: "I don’t know what's in the water in Argentina, but it definitely breeds big cranks, that's all I gotta say. Amazingly, you watch guys that get fucked and stay rock hard the whole time. You don't see that too often."

That will be followed by Damian Ford in Thailand, as well as an Asian edition of the Knob Squad. Ford will go on three additional excursions in 2006.

Zaye plans to continue adding meaty, bonus-disc documentaries as a DVD extra for its bigger features, which has caught consumers' eyes and will help the company with its goal for 2006: brand recognition. "There's always going to be that second disc that is gonna be at least forty-five minutes to an hour long... people just raved about the behind the scenes in Damian Ford in Hawaii. They really enjoy it. You'll find that in all of our feature-type movies, and I'll incorporate more behind the scenes in my other movies as well, at least thirty minutes."
