Buddy Profits Launches VintageGayLoops.com

MONTREALVintageGayLoops.com, launched Tuesday by affiliate program Buddy Profits, has a mission beyond satisfying the gay libido. The site chronicles the history of 8-mm gay adult films from the early 1960s to the mid-1970s. Some produced in black-and-white, others in color, the films served as calling cards for escort services before becoming regarded as a significant step in the evolution of erotic cinema and the gay rights movement.

Developed in partnership with adult industry veteran David Stidler, a longtime collector of vintage gay content, VintageGayLoops.com was launched during the 40th anniversary year of the Stonewall Riots. In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a Greenwich Village gathering spot for the most marginalized members of society at the time: homosexuals, cross-dressers and transgendered individuals. Police quickly lost control of the situation, which developed into a riot that spanned several days. The event formed a seminal moment in the development of gay rights advocacy groups.

Stidler said the collection of loops at the website gives viewers a clear picture of the attitudes of the day.

“It wasn’t long ago that gay porno films were illegal, unlike today when we have full First Amendment rights, such as free speech,” Stidler said. “You have to understand that there was a fight for these rights. The foundation for the gay rights movement that was sparked in the ’60s was caused by the fact that gays couldn’t congregate; they couldn’t get together in bars. This was illegal. This new site is a celebration of those early days and how far we have come since then.

“In addition to the vast catalogue of scenes already available on the site, we will be presenting some groundbreaking, never-before-seen vintage footage of some of the biggest names from porn and Hollywood,” he added. “For instance, we have footage from porn legend John Holmes’ very first appearance in a gay porn movie.”

VintageGayLoops.com features newly added vintage scenes each week, an amazing cast of models, a blog that invites members to share their stories from the past, a vintage photos collection and a “Pride Timelines” section.

“Vintage Gay Loops is a truly unique new site for Buddy Profits and is one of the most compelling vintage sites available,” said Stephan Sirard, president and chief executive officer of the affiliate program’s parent company, Next Door Entertainment. “As a gay adult company, we have a great appreciation for the history of this industry and are very proud to launch this new site. I believe there’s an audience that will remember these vintage scenes and a whole new audience who will be fascinated with these long-lost gay porn loops.”
