Bijou Theater Spotlights Al Parker in November

CHICAGO - The Bijou Theater will continue its monthly Spotlight Series in November with a look at one of gay porn's true superstars, Al Parker.

Parker's career began in the 1970s with COLT Studio. In the '80s he appeared in films by other leading studios including Brentwood and Falcon before establishing his own film company, Surge Studios.

Born June 25, 1952, in the greater Boston area, Parker was among the best-known of the lean, mustachioed "tops" in classic gay film, where his large endowment was legendary. He died at the age of 40 of complications of AIDS.

For three nights - Nov. 12-14 - the Bijou Theater will host a special 8 p.m. screening of films that featured Parker in a starring role. Scheduled are Wanted on Monday, Turned On on Tuesday and Games on Wednesday. Each night will begin with a short presentation that reveals details about that evening's film and behind-the-scenes tidbits. Following the presentations, each film will be shown on the big screen as they originally were.

Special Spotlight Series tickets, good for admission all three nights, will be available for $20 at the box office beginning Nov. 9th. Attendees are welcome to remain after the spotlight in order to view the other films showing that day.

The Bijou Theater is located at 1349 North Wells Street in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood. More information about the Spotlight Series is available by calling the box office at (312) 943-5425.
