April 2007 Gossip

Let's start with some Mickey's Quickies: Titan Media has re-signed four exclusives, new GAYVN Performer of the Year François Sagat as well as Alex Baresi, Damien Crosse, and Diesel WashingtonCollin O'Neal and Raging Stallion have snatched up a hot new exclusive, Roman Ragazzi, in a new deal where they will share models. The dark-haired hunk with a permanent five o'clock shadow and sexy voice sports a nine-inch cock and a great attitude. See more of him on his RomanRagazzi.com website… Spanky from Male Media One introduced me to a new charity, Bienastar, which helps AIDS case management and medical outreach aimed at the Latino community. The organization is based in Pomona, Calif. Busy Spank, a Free Speech Coalition board member, could be seen as his alter-ego, Sister Mary Spanky, passing the collection plate for FSC's legal battles on behalf of the porn industry at the recent GAYVN Awards in San Francisco… Blind item — I'm not used to doing such things, but this is too good to pass up. A former gay porn superstar may be teaming up with another legend that would rival the super team of Jeff Stryker and Bruce Vilanch responsible for Stryker's recent one-man show. I'll fill in the details as soon as it seems to be coming to fruition.

Post GAYVN Awards news: Spencer Quest won Best Supporting Actor for Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita, but before winning announced his retirement and entry into rehab. He's still working on his interactive website though… Big winner Michael Lucas, meanwhile, took off for Florida to direct two movies and celebrate his 35th birthday and ten years in the U.S…. Several mothers attended the GAYVNs this year including Tober Brandt's and Chris Steele's. Chris' mom was even up for the Best Screenplay award as "Austin Deeds" for Falcon's The Velvet Mafia.

Thrilled with his win for Best Bisexual Video, but sad that he didn't get to go on stage to accept it (of course, we'd all still be at the Castro Theatre if every winner made speeches), Doug Jeffries said he really wanted to publicly thank Rick Ford and Chi Chi LaRue for giving him free reign in allowing him to be experimental and controversial in his video titles. All Worlds/ Channel 1's Delinquents, which earned him Best Director and Picture noms, was very different for him and he is going to do more of the same. But first up is a new two-disk title for Unzipped Video. The idea centers around a businessman who runs a company that has a raw and nasty dungeon deep in the building. He is also going to do some more fisting videos, and continue the Little Big League series with a new title, Bottom of the Ninth.

Paul Barresi says the best thing that happened since he won the Best Non-Sexual Performance award for Falcon's The Velvet Mafia is that he is now talking to company owner Todd Montgomery about doing more than appearing in a Falcon Studios title. "Maybe I can [direct] a movie for them now too," Barresi said, pointing out that he helped out in some of Falcon's earlier titles with John Summers, when he was working under the name of Joe Hammer. Meanwhile, he is gearing up to direct more for Pleasure Productions.

Speaking of bisexuality and Paul Barresi — he stunned the ladies at the Good Vibrations store in San Francisco where noted author and sexual scholar Carol Queen was hosting a reading for The Bisexuals' Guide to the Universe. Known for his bi dalliances, Barresi ended up signing autographs and posing for pictures. Queen's book, with its share of bi erotica and mentions of bi porn stars, was nominated for two Lambda Literary Awards in the categories of Human and Bisexual books for the year. It's a great addition to any bookshelf because it crosses the span of sexuality — and it's funny too.

Carol Queen is the founder of the Center for Sex and Culture, and has collected 7,000 erotic books, 3,000 magazines, 2,000 videos, and lots of artwork. Because I've collected a lot of archival memorabilia and personal effects from many porn pals' estates, I have donated a first batch of items that I've preserved and waited to find the right home for over the years. After a few false starts trying to get displays at various sex museums, I've decided this institute would be the best place for such preservation. There's Chi Chi LaRue's nurse's costume from Revenge of the Bi Dolls, costumes from Karen Dior, the cigar Ryan Idol used in Idol in the Sky, and trophies, videos, outfits, memorabilia, and stuff from Matt Gunther, Joey Stefano, Johnny Rey, Wash West, Sharon Kane, and many more. More about the non-profit archives can be found at SexAndCulture.org.
